Practical guides on garage cleanouts and organizing, plus answers to the questions we hear most from homeowners around Windsor and Northern Colorado.
How Much Does a Garage Cleanout Cost in Windsor, CO?
If you're trying to figure out what a garage cleanout costs in Windsor, here's the short answer: projects start at $499. The real number depends on your garage — how much is in it, what you want done with it, and whether anything needs to be hauled away. Here's how that breaks down, so you have a realistic sense of cost before you request a quote.
Why Garage Cleanout Pricing Varies
No two garages are alike, and we don't price them like they are. A two-car garage packed with years of stuff takes more time and more decisions than a one-car garage with a few bins out of place. Some owners already know exactly what's staying and what's going. Others want help sorting through it as we go. Some jobs just need a sweep and cobweb removal. Others need everything sorted, organized, cleaned, and a load hauled off. That's why we scope every job to the space and what's actually needed, then agree on a price before we start work.
The Three Packages, and What Each One Covers
We offer three packages so you're only paying for what your garage actually needs, not a one-size-fits-all rate.
- Garage Refresh — a freshen-up for lighter clutter. Sweep and cobweb removal only. A good fit if the garage is already fairly organized and just needs to look cared for again.
- Garage Reset — our recommended package. Sweep and cobweb removal, sorting and decluttering, organizing what stays, and detailed floor cleaning.
- Complete Cleanout — everything in Reset, plus pressure washing and hauling and disposal. Your quote confirms pressure-washing suitability and the volume to haul.
Driveway washing, donation drop-off, bulky-item removal, extra organizing, and additional haul loads can be added to any of the three packages.
Why Hauling Is Priced Separately
Hauling isn't part of the $499 starting price, and it isn't included in Refresh or Reset. It's part of Complete Cleanout, and even there it's priced to the job rather than bundled into a flat number. The amount people want hauled away varies more than almost anything else in a garage — a few broken bins is a different job than years of stuff nobody's touched. We agree on what's leaving and how it'll be hauled before any work starts. If you only need a few bulky items gone rather than a full haul, that's available as an add-on too.
Do You Live Outside Windsor?
We're based in Windsor and serve a roughly 20-mile radius around it, including Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, Longmont, and Thornton. Inside that radius, distance isn't a factor in your price. Jobs further out include a distance charge, built into your quote up front.
Every garage is different, so the only way to get an exact number for yours is a quote. Tell us what you're working with, and we'll walk through the plan and the price together.
5 Signs It's Time for a Garage Cleanout
Most garages don't stop working overnight. It's a slow slide — a box here, an unfinished project there — until one day you realize the room built for your car and your tools isn't doing either job anymore. Here are five signs it might be time for a cleanout.
1. You can't remember the last time you parked in there
If your car lives in the driveway and the garage has quietly become overflow storage, that's usually the clearest sign of all. A garage that can't do its main job — parking a car, giving you room to work — has stopped serving the purpose it was built for. It rarely happens all at once. A few bins here, a bike there, and eventually there's no path left to the spot where the car used to go.
2. Boxes from your last move are still taped shut
If you've been in your home a year, two years, or longer, and there are still moving boxes you haven't opened, that's worth paying attention to. Whatever's inside hasn't been missed. Sealed boxes sitting untouched are usually a sign it's time to go through what's actually in the garage — keep what matters, and let go of what you've clearly lived without.
3. You're moving things out of the way just to get to other things
A garage should make life easier, not harder. If grabbing the lawnmower means shifting four other items first, or you've stubbed a toe on the same box for months, that's not just clutter — it's a safety issue. Tripping hazards, unstable stacks, and blocked walkways are easy to shrug off day to day, right up until someone gets hurt.
4. You've noticed signs of pests
Droppings, chewed cardboard, shredded insulation, or a smell you can't quite place — garages are a common entry point for mice, rats, and other unwanted visitors, especially where there's clutter to hide and nest in. Dense storage that doesn't get disturbed often is exactly the kind of spot pests are drawn to. Noticing any of this is a sign the space needs real attention, not just a tidy-up.
5. The garage has become a dumping ground instead of a usable space
This is the big one. Somewhere along the way, the garage stopped being a place for the car, the tools, or a workbench, and became the spot where things land when you don't know where else to put them. If you can't picture what you'd actually use the space for anymore, that's the tell. A garage that's just absorbing stuff isn't doing anything for you — it's only taking up room.
If any of this sounds like your garage, you're not alone — it happens in most households eventually. When you're ready to get it back, tell us what's going on in there — photos optional — and we'll talk through a plan and a quote together.
Garage Organization Tips for Northern Colorado Homeowners
Northern Colorado garages earn their keep. Between Windsor, Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and Longmont, we get hard freezes, sudden snow, dry summers, and everything in between — sometimes in the same week. That kind of swing wears on a garage faster than people expect. A few smart habits keep yours working for you instead of against you, all year long.
Give Winter Gear a Home Before the First Snow
Skis, sleds, tire chains, ice melt, snow shovels — if it only comes out a few months a year, it shouldn't live in the middle of the floor the other nine. Wall-mounted racks and overhead storage keep bulky winter gear up and out of the way, and out of the path of your car.
- Hang skis, poles, and sleds on wall hooks or a ceiling rack
- Keep a bin near the door for ice melt, gloves, and scrapers
- Store tire chains somewhere you can grab them without digging
Manage the Salt, Sand, and Slush Vehicles Track In
Every winter trip brings road salt and sand back into the garage on your tires and boots. Left alone, that grit scratches concrete and corrodes metal over time. A heavy-duty mat under each parking spot and a boot tray by the door catch most of it before it spreads.
Protect the Floor from Freeze-Thaw and Moisture
Northern Colorado's freeze-thaw cycles are tough on concrete. Water gets into small cracks, freezes, expands, and makes the crack bigger — repeat that enough winters and you've got real damage. A concrete sealer applied every couple of years helps keep moisture out, and a quick squeegee or shop vac after a snowy week keeps melting snow from sitting and seeping in.
Rotate Gear With the Seasons
Trying to store lawn equipment, patio furniture, skis, and holiday decorations all at once is how garages get overwhelmed. A seasonal swap — mower and trimmer to the back when snow gear moves to the front, then reverse it in spring — keeps whatever you need most within easy reach.
Don't Forget the Garage Door
Cold snaps are hard on garage door hardware. Metal tracks contract, rubber seals stiffen, and openers can labor more than usual. A little silicone-based lubricant on the rollers and hinges before winter, plus a look at the weatherstripping along the bottom, goes a long way toward keeping the door running smoothly and the cold air out.
A well-organized garage doesn't happen by accident, especially with a Colorado winter thrown in. If yours has gotten away from you, or you're just ready for a change before the snow flies, request a quote and we'll talk through what your space needs.
